LETS DO THINGS THE #TAYWAY
Who is Taybron Virgin
Taybron L. Virgin was born on May 14, 1974, in Pensacola, Florida. He attended Pensacola High School, where he was a multi-talented drummer in the Pensacola High School Marching Band and a three-year letterman in baseball.
Taybron enlisted in the United States Navy in March 1993. After completing boot camp, he served at several duty stations, including Virginia, Mississippi, Washington, D.C., Georgia, Guantanamo Bay, and concluded his 21.5-year career in Virginia. During his time in the Navy, Taybron completed deployments to El Salvador, Japan, and served during the historic final cruise of the USS Saratoga.
Upon retiring from the Navy, Taybron transitioned to civil service, working for the Navy Bureau of Medical Services in Pensacola, Florida. His dedication to his country continued beyond his military service, as he pursued higher education, earning an Associate Degree in General Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Accounting, Management, and Administration.
Throughout his life, Taybron experienced several transformative moments, becoming a proud father, loving husband, and a man who would give anything he had to help others. His volunteer work began during his time in the Navy and continued after his retirement. He was passionate about giving back to his community, particularly to the youth and the elderly. Taybron frequently served meals at a local homeless shelter, cooked for a local church fundraiser, and worked as a sound technician at Talbot Chapel AM Zion Church. One of his greatest joys was organizing events like his birthday party, the annual Easter Egg Hunt, and Halloween Party for the Pre-K classes at Warrington Elementary School. Taybron dedicated himself to raising funds for the children’s field trips and supplies not provided by the school district.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, Taybron organized and sponsored a project to provide over 350 personal care packages, clothing, and water to those affected by the disaster. Additionally, he facilitated a donation of over 230 teddy bears from Kay Jewelers in Pensacola for the children impacted by the storm.
Taybron’s passion for helping others was evident in his smile and voice whenever he spoke about his volunteer efforts. His service was not driven by the desire for recognition, but by a genuine love for giving back. He mentored junior sailors, tutored struggling students, and filled the role of a big brother and father figure for children in need of guidance.
Family was at the center of Taybron’s life. He enjoyed cooking, taking family vacations, and attending battle of the bands events. Whenever he was at a band competition, he could be found smiling, reminiscing about his time in the drumline. Taybron also served as the Executive Officer of the Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity and later became one of the six founders of the Alpha Lambda Psi Military Fraternity, holding the title of #3 (Son of Poseidon) of the Eminent 6. He was also a proud Masonic brother, dedicated to promoting service to others and encouraging the community to give back.
In honor of his legacy, Taybron’s Touch Foundation, Inc. was established on August 25, 2020, as a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those in need in the community, schools, and families. In its inaugural year, the foundation sponsored Christmas for 16 children. The foundation adopted the motto #TayWay, symbolizing love, peace, calmness, and humbleness. It remains committed to "The Art of Giving."
Taybron’s legacy lives on through his foundation and the countless lives he touched. His love, service, and commitment to helping others will continue to inspire future generations. May his legacy live on for eternity.
